Being new to the blogging world, and having blogged for just over a month already, I thought it would be nice to take a look back on my experience so far to see what (if anything) blogging has taught me. It still seems surreal to me that I blog now, for a long time it was only something I considered starting but never made the big jump to actually do it. So, what are some thoughts on blogging from a newbies perspective?

What do I blog about?

During my first week of blogging I had a solid idea of what I thought I wanted to blog about, all things relating to my interests, which I still do. However I still don't have a specific topic I blog about, my interests are from different areas like learning Korean and nail art; these topics don't really relate to each other but I still want to blog about both. Yet I have a variety of posts, like a mini haul, my most reached for Korean beauty products and a review on the Anti-Journal. With an array of things I blog about I don't quite yet know which blogging category I fall into, or if I will get any followers since it's not all about one topic. This is a worry I have, but I am hoping as I blog more I find my own style and the vibe of my blog will become more clear. I think one of the main points here is blog about what YOU want to blog about. It is your blog, and the wonderful thing is that you can do anything you want with it.

Is there anybody out there?

I hope that there are people out there reading my blog, and maybe even enjoying it! I think one of the biggest worries for most new bloggers is getting people to read their blog, something I am still trying to master! I'd like to share a tip I came across when I was researching starting a blog: Create posts which are shareable. I think this is a great piece of advice, and one which I try to follow. I've noticed some of my posts that I consider 'shareable' are the ones that have the most likes and views. Create posts that will always be useful and relevant, this will help to keep the post 'alive'.

Am I getting enough traffic?

This point kind of continues on from my previous one about getting people to read your blog, or, getting traffic. If you put in the effort to share your posts and comment on other people's blogs it will help you to get more traffic, but you can also find great blogs to follow doing this and new people to talk to. I'm still new to this and don't get many comments on my own blog, but if I enjoy someone else's post I will let them know (as I know how great it feels for someone to comment on mine). If you are interested in connecting with more people or getting more traffic I would suggest sharing your posts in Google + Communities. Find blog groups relevant to what you post and get sharing! I've joined many different communities on Google + and every time I post something that would be relevant to the group I share the post there, and it's a great way to get traffic.

How often should I blog?

Is there a magic number for how often someone should release a new blog post? In my blogging baby steps I am still trying to figure out how much is too much or too little for blog posts, but mostly for myself it depends how busy I am. Lately I have been busy so I haven't blogged for about 10 days, but is this an issue during the early stages? So many questions arise for the newbie blogger that I am, but I am hoping with time I figure it all out.

Being new to blogging I wonder 'Am I doing it right?', is there even a right or wrong when it comes to blogging? Hopefully these thoughts (and worries) as a newbie will fade as I develop as a blogger.

What struggles have you faced as a newbie (or experienced) blogger before? What are some of your thoughts on blogging?

I LOVE puns, so I couldn't resist the urge to think of some play on words with the words I have been learning from some of my Korean language books. I've wanted to share these for a while now, and finally the time has come! I'm going to share a few (in my opinion, brilliant) phrases that play on words. I find combining humour with learning helps to memorise a lot faster, I hope you get the puns I've come up with. There is not many so far, but I will add explanations to them in case you don't get them.

Hello hello! I just thought I would drop by with a quick post about some new purchases I got this weekend from my trip to Chester. If you have never been to Chester before I suggest going, it's such a nice place to shop and you could even stop by the river to enjoy some ice cream. Chester is a spot me and my mum like to go every now and then, and my sister came with us for the first time this weekend - it was fun to watch her being a tourist haha. For some reason we have never looked inside the Cathedral before, it is free to look around (some parts) so we had a look. I didn't take many photos but I will share a few later on in the post. As you can see I didn't buy much, however I did start my Christmas shopping! I can't share what I brought though, but I got a few nice small things for some of the family :)

Pylones O'Deer Paper Clip Holder

This deer paper clip holder from Pylones is definitely my best buy from the weekend I think! Pylones is my favourite store in Chester since everything in there is so unique, the last time I went I got a super awesome noodle bowl. I just love the design of this paper clip holder though, I couldn't resist buying it especially as it was in the sale! They didn't have many left but there were two other colours (however I love the colour I got), the deer's head also pushes down and picks up the paper clips like it is grazing on them! Some of the Christmas presents I got are also from Pylones, I made full use of their sale. Instead of paying £7.50 I got this for just £4.50.

Smoky 2 In 1 Gel Liner, All In One InstaBlur, Vitamin E Cream Cleanser

I'm a huge fan of The Body Shop and I've been wanting to try out these products for a while, so I just went for it and brought them. I tried out the gel liner today and I am pretty impressed with it so far. It was easier than I thought to apply (I am a liquid liner type of person) so I thought I would make a huge mess with the brush, but I found the brush so soft and it just glided on nicely. As for the Vitamin E Cream Cleanser I'm going to be testing it out this week. So far using it today it feels so much calmer on my skin compared to the Clean & Clear Deep Cleansing Lotion I have used for so many years, however I hope the Cream Cleanser can keep my spots at bay!

As mentioned we had a look around the Cathedral, it was nice to look around. I didn't take many photos in there since it was pretty dark, but here are a few snaps that I like :)
Chester Cathedral currently has an Alice In Wonderland exhibition which is free to look at, I wish I took more photos now! I love the rabbit down the rabbit hole, they also had a giant Cheshire Cat which moved too! The exhibition is open until the 30th August.
You might or might not be aware of this but I absolutely love Korean things, and I especially love Korea's beauty products. I'm not as big on makeup but I make sure to look after my skin, and many of the products I use in my daily routine are Korean products. I've always loved reading about bloggers most reached for products so I decided to do my own but a Korean edition! I won't be doing a full on review of each of the products but I will be talking about what I adore about each one (in no particular order). Enjoy!
Yes you read it right, 'Snail Lip Treatment Stick'! For anyone unfamiliar with Asian cosmetics you might find it odd that snail secretion is used in products, but it is actually very good for your skin. This is the 2nd stick I've had to buy so far, it's my go to Korean lip balm as it does a great job at moisturising your lips. I like to use this at night time before bed so it can treat my lips over night, but of course it's great for during the day too. Oddly this product is no longer available from the eBay shops I know used to sell it, so sadly I may be needing to find an alternative soon. Not too much of this product is needed so it lasts a long time (thankfully), but I alternate between this lip balm and the Nivea Essential Care lip balm.
Speaking of lips, I adore this lip tint by Etude House! I own it in a few other shades but this is by far my favourite one. I don't use makeup that often but for a subtle colour to the lips this is a nice option. It feels lightweight on the lips and the scent is so sweet and tasty! It doesn't dry out the lips at all which is what I love about it, and the colour is not too 'in your face'.

The Face Shop Chia Seed Sebum Control Moisture Cream

This is by far one of my most favourite products of all time! I received this as a gift from a friend who went to South Korea, and she was told it is good for combination skin like mine. I use this on my skin after cleansing and applying toner, and that's pretty much all I do! Applying this on the face is so refreshing, I can't express how cool it feels on the skin. It has a lovely light scent to it that smells clean and fresh - but not the 'chemically' clean smell. After applying this my skin feels so lovely and smooth, almost baby soft. It doesn't make my skin oily at all and keeps it moisturised all day long. This chia seed moisture cream has been lasting me a long time as I used to alternate between this and some snail moisture cream, but now I only use this as it is so good! Oh, and it also comes with a spatula which is always handy, plus it makes it more hygienic to use. This is definitely a product that I will continue to use for many years.
I love these gel patches from Secret Key! These are actually the first gel patches I have ever tried but I am so pleased with the results so far. I use these quite often to minimise puffiness under my eyes, as well as firming my skin in that area and the results are noticeable right away. Not only that, but they are refreshing and cool to apply, so great for when you need to cool down your eyes - you could even store this in the fridge so it is super cold and even more refreshing! The spot patches also work wonders in reducing the size of spots, pop one of these on and you will notice a big difference the next day. Here's what they look like inside, it comes with 60 eye patches and 30 spot patches (I've used a lot already)!
Another product from The Face Shop on this list, this one actually came as a freebie with the Chia Seed Moisture Cream. I've never used a face mist before (although I see them being used all the time in Korean drama's) but this product is great! It's not something I use all the time but from time to time when I am treating my skin I apply this on after I've used a face mask, it makes my skin so smooth and it has a lovely scent to it which is similar to that of the Chia Seed product. It is unreal how soft this makes the skin feel, after using this I'm really curious to try out other face mists and start using them in my every day routine.

The last product on my list of most reached for Korean products is this hair essence by Etude House. When I first got the silk scarf hair products I was a little sceptical if they would actually work well enough for my hair as it's naturally curly/frizzy Afro-Caribbean hair, but out of the whole range this is the one that I continue to use. I apply it to the ends of my hair when it's damp before blow drying to help seal all those split ends! It has a floral scent to it and overall it makes the ends of my hair feel silky smooth. I'm about half way through this product and it is lasting me ages, I probably won't need to buy another one until next year!

I'm back with another nail art look! Last time I created a black and gold nail set, but today I will be showing you a simple black and silver look! I really like black nails lately, well I've always liked black nail polish really, but teaming it up with glitter is the perfect combination for when you are feeling a bit lazy with your nails (which I have been lately). To make this nail art stand out even more I decided to add in a feature nail using Ciate's tinsel trail and using only the silver holographic pieces to match the glitter on the rest of my nails.

Although I've had Tinsel Trail since Christmas (from the Ciate advent calendar) this is my first time using it as I was unsure on what look I could create with it, but I absolutely love how it looks! I think I will definitely be using this more often. Since that advent calendar I have become obsessed with Ciate polishes, I really love some of their glitter polishes and I have started to collect polishes from this brand.

Before taking these photos I'd already had the polish on for about 4-5 days, I always finish off with the Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat - I love this stuff! It lasts so well on your nails and gives such a nice finish, I highly recommend it.
Glitter gradient nails are so simple to create, it's one of my favourite nail art looks for quickly doing your nails. For the glitter I am using 'Cha Cha Cha' which I got from Next. I've never tried their polishes before but as soon as I saw Cha Cha Cha I had to buy it! For all of the polishes I used, see below.

Hello there! As it's summer I think this is a great time to share a project with you which I recently finished for a friends birthday. My inspiration for this idea came from a trip to Waterstones a couple of months ago. I was with my friend when we stumbled across Keri Smith books such as 'Wreck This Journal'. It was our first time discovering these types of books but looking through it just looked so amazing and creative. I really wanted to buy a box set of Keri's books there and then! But being a typical student short on cash I had other more important things to buy like my grocery shopping. We left the book store with no books in hand, but I kept the idea in the back of my head of creating my own 'creative journal', especially as my friends birthday was coming up and he'd been really interested in the book. That's when I decided rather than buying a 'Wreck This Journal' book I would create something similar yet more personalised as a gift for my friend!

This project has taken me a while, I'd say about 3 to 4 weeks however I did a lot of research, drafting, and knowing myself, lots of procrastinating - but there was 80 pages! What I love about this project is that you can be as random or crazy as you want with ideas, you can add personalised pages made just for yourself or someone else, it's a great activity to pass the time and it really does get you to think creatively! So, let's look at some of the pages inside! Some of the pages are original ideas, and a lot of ideas come from other books (which I will list at the end).
What I love about this particular book I brought is the quality of the paper. I used fineliners throughout and the colour does not go through that much, the paper was thick and excellent quality. The page size was quite large at 255mm x 255mm, but I think this is much better than a smaller notebook which was what I had planned to buy at first. I brought this book from Paperchase and it is a scrapbook, take a look at their selection, they have quite a few with some really nice designs!

It is super easy to create a journal like this as the only things you need are pens, pencils, and your creativity! Okay, you might need some other materials depending on what you are doing, like some card, glue, scissors and a printer but all in all you really don't need much. The pictures above were just a few ideas of pages you could include in your creative journal, and I included many other pages. To make this more personal I included a letter to my friend, he loves cheese so I made a 'Cheese Bucketlist' which included different cheeses to try and review them (cheesy, I know), I even added a basketball game which made use of origami basketball hoops that will fold flat afterwards. Also, borrow ideas from other books! It is difficult to come up with 80 different ideas on your own, so research existing books to find inspiration and ideas. To find ideas I researched different creative journal books and looked up videos on YouTube of people who have completed the book, searching tumblr for uploaded photos of pages from the books, and searching anything and everything about the books on Google. I spent a lot of time doing research, so here is a list of books where you can find page ideas:

Wreck This Journal - Keri Smith (I'd recommend any of Keri's books)

Anti Journal - David Sinden, Nikalas Catlow

1 Page At A Time - Adam J. Kurtz (I really want to buy this book, it looks amazing!)

The Pointless Book 1 and 2 - Alfie Deyes

This was quite a long post so thank you for staying until the end! Also, a shoutout to my friend Shane, I hope you liked your present! I can't wait to see it when it is completed :)

Hello! Today I'd like to introduce a new series of posts I'll be starting called 'Oh My Kawaii'. In these posts I will be sharing the cute little treasures I buy, adorable products I must share with you all! I'll be (very honestly) reviewing the kawaii items I've brought, because who can resist the charm of kawaii~! Let's begin!

I recently discovered the Disney Tsum Tsums, I can't believe I didn't know about these before as they are so kawaii! The Tsum Tsums are stackable plush toys, the very term means 'stack stack'. I chose the mini one, mostly as I needed something to clean my kindle screen - the mini Tsum Tsums double up as a screen cleaner which is super handy! There are so many to choose from, I won't be surprised if I end up with more of them.

I brought this one from eBay for just £2.59 which I think is a reasonable price. This Flounder Tsum Tsum is just so cute, however I do have one concern: is it a fake Tsum Tsum? Before I ordered this I didn't really know much about the Tsum Tsums, however after doing some research I am certain it's a fake. If I had known earlier that I could buy them from Clintons I definitely would have! They only cost £3.00, and you will be getting the real thing.

Although I don't currently own any other Tsum Tsums to compare to I'm certain mine is a fake for numerous reasons. Take a look at the shape of his body, he seems a bit lumpy and uneven. I'm also suspicious about the tag, it doesn't look like some of the official ones.

*Sigh* If you're planning on getting some Disney Tsum Tsums I highly suggest you buy them from either Disney or places that sell the official merchandise like Clintons (if you are in the UK). And do your research first, unlike me! I'd still like to buy more of these though, they are just so cute and would look great on my desk.

Have you ever had issues with receiving a fake before? How do you feel about owning fakes?

Today I have a quick post to share with you about this simple black and gold nail art set I'm really enjoying. This was my first time using tape and I think it gives a really great effect for simple nail art! It's super easy to create this look as you only need two colours, but I'll show you all the products I used as I highly recommend the top coats - I love using them :)

As you can see I need to work on my alignment and symmetry with the tape, it's okay to use but I'm not that fond of using it yet.

Black and gold are two colours that compliment each other so much, and I think this makes for a great modern look on your nails. I used gold loose glitter for the pinky finger and although a little messy it's a great addition for a more glam vibe.

It's a bit tricky to see, but the centre of the black nail has a matt finish.

This look was pretty easy to create and I think in the future I will modify or recreate it as I really like it :) I hope you enjoyed this nail look, it's not the usual kind of nail art I go for as I usually do character nail art, but I'll be experimenting with this style more! If you liked this then you might like some of my other nail art that can be found on my instagram.
The Anti Journal is a book I recently purchased, and I'm obsessed with it! It's a book that allows for creativity and as the authors say, "It's Journaling Outside The Box". This book is packed full of fun and creative activities, some of which I've already started and would like to share with you today for a peek at what's inside.

Task: Write over this page, avoiding the box: I WILL NOT MAKE BORING ART

I plan to slowly work my way through this book, it's nice just to pass some time by doing this every now and then when you're feeling bored. However there are a few pages I'm really eager to start, so I put little tabs on them to start them when I'm ready. One of my favourite things to do so far has been to decorate the outside of the book, I made it themed to one of my favourite movies - Spirited Away!

"Cover every inch of this journal as you please - Including its front, back, edges..."

I contemplated if I should cover the title of the book or not, I'm still thinking about it. The back of the book is still a work in progress, but I love my drawing of the radish spirit from the film! At first I drew him straight on the book but with parts of the books design showing through it didn't look right, I recommend using acrylic paints like I did on the cover to hide the books grid pattern, or cut out and glue on your drawings such as I've done on the back.

I highly recommend this book, for only £3.42 it's great value for money! Amazon seems to be the best place to buy the Anti Journal from, and various sellers have it listed for the same price. It doesn't matter too much if you're not the 'artsy' type, this book is great for anyone who is bored and wants something creative to do.

I'll be posting updates on my progress through the book onto my instagram from time to time for anyone curious or looking for ideas - perhaps for the pages that turn out okay (I'm not really that great at art as you may have noticed from my last post)!

Do you own the book? Think you'll grab yourself a copy? Let me know in the comments below!
Hello and welcome to my first ever blog post! *panic breathes*

I currently self teach myself Korean, and one of my essential study materials are flashcards. I highly recommend flashcards to anyone who is studying any language or subject, they are so quick and easy to make and are of great benefit to your learning. Below I'll be discussing 5 reasons why you should make your own Korean flashcards!

IT'S FREE

Sure there are some pre-made flashcards you can buy, but don't! Why waste your money when you can make your own flashcards for free. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you how to make flashcards, so go ahead and start making some.

IT WON'T MATTER WHEN YOU GROW OUT OF THEM

One of the reasons I think you shouldn't buy pre-made flashcards is because over time you will 'grow out' of them. I own the Tuttle 'Korean For Kids' flashcards which I use all the time, however now that I have memorised most of the words I don't need them any more. It doesn't matter if you grow out of your handmade flashcards since they were free to make anyway.

YOU CAN GET CREATIVE

I'm no artist, but even I will say it's fun to create your own flashcards. Make them as creative or simple as you want with drawings, colour and whatever helps to stimulate your learning. I learn best by just reading the words over and over, so my flashcards are rather plain, some don't even have images on!

CHOOSE WHAT YOU WANT TO LEARN

Buying flashcards or using flashcards online usually means you learn the words that you are given. This can be great for learning new words but, if you are like me, I want choose what I learn! Use your flashcards to keep track of new words you discover, categorise them and learn what suits you best.

PAPER FEELS

Lastly, d.i.y flashcards are just awesome because nothing beats the feel of paper in your hands! It's kind of like with books, sometimes nothing wins over the feel of the product in your hand. The flashcards I purchased had a laminated feel, and some funky plastic smell, thanks but no thanks.

I thought I'd share a little bit about the way I use my flashcards, the kind of categories I have for words. If I'm working in a Korean workbook I will make any words that are key words into flashcards, I find this ideal so when I'm not looking at the book I can still learn the content through flashcards. I also jot down any words I keep hearing repeatedly in K-Pop songs so I can learn the meaning of the word and memorise it, most recently I kept noticing the word 외톨이(loner) in 'Loser' by BIGBANG, I recognised the word from C.N.Blue's 'I'm A Loner' so I made note to learn this word once and for all!

Here are some useful categories with examples for you to start making your own Korean flashcards!

I'm really this bad at drawing!

Good luck with creating your flashcards! Which way do you learn new words best? I'd love to know!
